How to Remove Footer Credit from Storefront theme in WordPress

Today I’ll show you how you can remove the footer credits from the StoreFront theme in WordPress and add your own custom footer credits using custom CSS or a WordPress plugin.

The StoreFront theme doesn’t have any feature to edit or remove the footer credits. Sometimes this looks very bad on our website, that is why I will show you how you can remove the default footer credits on the StoreFront theme.

For removing the footer credit I will be using custom CSS code, so make sure your hosting allows you to add custom CSS. If you are using self-hosted wordpress.org then you are fine, but if you are using wordpress.com then you might need to upgrade to a business plan for adding CSS code.

Removing Footer Credits in StoreFront Theme using CSS

To remove the footer credits using custom CSS code you will need to first log in to your WordPress admin. After that go to Appearance > Customize.

Here on the left menu, scroll down and look for Additional CSS. Click on the Additional CSS, here you will be able to enter custom CSS code on your site.

Now to remove the footer credits of the storefront theme you can use this custom CSS code –

.site-info {
    display: none;
}

Copy and paste this custom CSS code in the additional CSS box and click on the publish button at the top of the customizer. Now go to your website and refresh the page, the footer credits should disappear now.

Removing Footer Credits in StoreFront Theme using Plugin

If you don’t want to deal with coding then you can use a simple WordPress plugin to remove the footer credits from the storefront WordPress theme.

To begin, first, go to Plugins > Add New, here in the search bar search for “Remove footer credit”, install and activate the ‘Remove Footer Credit’ plugin by WPChill. You can also download and install the plugin from – https://wordpress.org/plugins/remove-footer-credit/

After installing and activating the plugin you can access its settings by going to ‘Tools > Remove Footer Credit’.

In the plugin you will need to enter the Html of the footer credit that you want to remove, so copy and paste this Html code in the first step –

<a href="https://woocommerce.com/storefront/" target="_blank" title="Storefront - The perfect platform for your next WooCommerce project." rel="noreferrer">Built with Storefront</a>.

If you want to add Custom Footer Credits in your WordPress StoreFront theme then here’s how you can do that.

First, go to Appearance > Customize. After that in the left menu scroll down and look for ‘Widgets’, In widgets click on the ‘Footer column 1’, Click on the Plus Icon and add a paragraph.

Enter anything you like in the paragraph box and click on Publish.

Conclusion -

That’s it, that is how you can remove the footer credits from the storefront WordPress theme easily using custom CSS or using a WordPress plugin.

The method that is recommended for you to use for removing the footer credit from the storefront theme is using the custom CSS method, as it is very easy to do and works like charm.

You can also use a plugin, but I don’t recommend you to use one as plugins put extra load on your WordPress website and make it slow. So avoid using plugins for everything, Try to use code instead for simple things.
