Tracking wintry weather threat: Rain showers could change over to snow across Cincinnati

THEY’RE STILL COOL. YEAH. UM, YOU KNOW WHAT’S COOL? THE WEATHER. WELL, AND HERE’S THE DEAL. WE’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS SYSTEM THAT’S COME BY AND BRING RAIN AND SNOW. AND THE WHOLE TIME WE’RE SAYING, LIKE, THE TRACK’S GOING TO DETERMINE THE TOTALS. WELL, THE TRACK IS TAKING A MORE SOUTHERLY ROUTE, WHICH DOES DECREASE THE IMPACT FOR MOST OF GREATER CINCINNATI. SO AS WE TAKE A LOOK AT A WIDE VIEW, YOU CAN SEE THERE’S A WHOLE LOT OF RAIN TO THE SOUTH. THEN THAT SYSTEM BRINGING SOME SNOW NOW IN THROUGH PORTIONS OF MISSOURI IN OUR AREA. IT IS GOING TO BE DRY UNTIL AT THE VERY EARLIEST, 4 P.M. AND THAT’S WHEN RAIN SHOWERS START TO CREEP IN FROM THE SOUTH. WANT TO SHOW YOU THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY GOES INTO EFFECT AT 7:00 TONIGHT THROUGH 7 A.M. TOMORROW. HOWEVER, THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MAY MAKE SOME ADJUSTMENTS TO THIS NOW THAT THE TRACK IS TAKING A MORE SOUTH AND SOUTHEASTERLY ROUTE. THIS IS FOR A HEADS UP FOR THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME IMPACTS, ESPECIALLY DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. AS THIS MOVES IN. SO WANT TO GIVE YOU THE TIMELINE HERE FOR THIS MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING STORM. SO AFTER ABOUT 4:00 THIS AFTERNOON, RAIN STARTS TO THE SOUTH. IT IS SLOWLY WORKING ITS WAY NORTH TO THE POINT WHERE BY ABOUT 9 P.M., THAT RAIN GETS TO CINCINNATI OR THE 275 LOOP. BY THE TIME WE GET TO 11:00 OR MIDNIGHT, THAT’S WHEN WE START TO SEE THATRILLIONAIN CHANGING OVER TO SNOW. AT THIS POINT, MOST OF THIS IS FOCUSED SOUTHEAST OF CINCINNATI, AND YOU’LL SEE SNOW BETWEEN ABOUT MIDNIGHT AND 3 OR 4 A.M. AS IT EXITS TO THE EAST AND SOUTHEAST. SO LET’S WATCH ALL OF THIS HAPPEN HERE ON THE FUTURECAST STARTING OUT THIS MORNING WITH SOME CLOUDS AROUND. BUT IT IS DRY GETTING INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON. HERE’S THAT 4:00 TIME FRAME. OUR TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE UPPER 40S AS THIS THING MOVES IN, SO IT REALLY DOES HELP US OUT WITH AIR TEMPERATURES AND PAVEMENT TEMPERATURES BEING WELL ABOVE FREEZING AS THIS THING STARTS. SO 4:00 THIS EVENING, RAIN SHOWERS TO THE SOUTH. YOU CAN SEE 7 P.M. STILL JUST BARELY MAKING ITS WAY UP TOWARD PORTIONS OF NORTHERN KENTUCKY. SO BY ABOUT 9 P.M. OR DURING THE 9:00 O’CLOCK HOUR, MAKING ITS WAY INTO THE 275 LOOP, AND THEN WE SEE THAT TRANSITION OVER TO SNOW STARTING AFTER ABOUT 11:00 OR MIDNIGHT. SO YOU CAN SEE BY THE TIME IT’S GETTING COLD ENOUGH TO TRANSITION TO SNOW, THIS THING IS ALREADY STARTING TO MOVE OFF TO THE SOUTH AND TO THE EAST. SO HERE’S I-71, HERE’S THE 275 LOOP. IT’S GOING TO BE JUST OFF TO THE SOUTHEAST OF THOSE AREAS THAT WE SEE THAT TRANSITION TO SNOW. BUT IT’S SO QUICKLY MOVES OUT OF THE AREA. AND BY THE TIME WE GET TO THREE AND 4:00 IN THE MORNING, IT’S GONE. SO AS FAR AS THE RAIN TO SNOW, TIMELINE GOES FOR TONIGHT, YOU KNOW, MOST OF GREATER CINCINNATI, IT’S JUST GOING TO BE WET FOR US. YOU’RE GOING TO SEE SOME SNOW SHOWERS FROM HILLSBORO TO MAYBE ALEXAN AREA. BUT ANY SPOT OF FOR ACCUMULATION AN INCH OR SO OF SNOW. SOUTHERN ADAMS COUNTY, SOUTHERN BROWN COUNTY PORTIONS OF BRACKEN, MASON AND ROBERTSON COUNTIES. SO AS WE GO THROUGH THE DAY TO DAY PLAN ON MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES, ANOTHER MILD ONE INTO THE UPPER 40S, AND THEN AFTER ABOUT 4 P.M. TONIGHT, RAIN CHANCES START TO PICK UP. SO FOR TODAY, 49 DEGREES, EXPECT CLOUDY SKIES. AND THEN TONIGHT RAIN TRANSITIONS TO SNOW. IT SNOWS TO THE SOUTHEAST OF CINCINNATI WHILE YOU’RE SLEEPING. TOMORROW WE GET UP TO TEMPERATURES THAT ARE AROUND FREEZING, SO WE’LL WATCH FOR SLICK SPOTS, ESPECIALLY ON RAISED SURFACES TOMORROW MORNING AND THEN UP TO 50 DEGREES BY VALENTINE’

Tracking wintry weather threat: Rain showers could change over to snow across Cincinnati

We are tracking changes to the track of our next system impacting our area Monday evening and overnight.Scattered showers will move in from south to north starting after 4 p.m. Monday evening, but the latest track of our low pressure looks to stay further to our south. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY goes into effect for a portion of the Greater Cincinnati area at 7 p.m. and lasts until 7 a.m. for accumulating snowfall that could cause slick roadwaysThis means that while we could still see rain mix to snow overnight (closer to 11 p.m. or midnight) the system will be on the way out as this happens and, by 3 a.m., the snow is out of here. With a more southern track, it is looking likely that only areas further southeast of I-71 could see a snow threat. These areas (Southern Brown/Adams counties in OH and Bracken, Mason and Robertson Counties in NKY) still have the chance for seeing accumulation, mainly less than 1″. All areas should be at least aware that temperatures overnight will drop to around freezing. With a decent wind many roads will dry out, but watch for slick spots for the Tuesday morning rush.
