The ascendance of the Green Bay Packers’ rookies on offense continued during Sunday’s 23-20 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Over games against the Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers, rookies Luke Musgrave, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks combined to create nine plays of at least 20 yards. Including rookie tight end Tucker Kraft in the mix, Sunday’s win over the Chargers featured four more explosive plays.
Reed had a 32-yard touchdown run.
Wicks had a catch of 27 yards on a third-quarter touchdown drive and a 35-yard catch on the final go-ahead touchdown drive in the fourth quarter.
Kraft had a 27-yard catch just two plays before Christian Watson’s touchdown catch.
Overall, Jordan Love completed 15 of 21 passes for 213 yards when targeting a rookie on Sunday. He completed passes to six different rookies, including receiver Malik Heath and running back Emanuel Wilson.

Reed also had a 19-yard catch on third down and a 15-yard run. He finished with 92 total yards on just eight touches. The second-year receivers also got into the act and played big roles: Romeo Doubs caught five of his six targets, including a 24-yard touchdown pass to take the lead late, while Christian Watson caught two passes — one gaining a first down and another an 11-yard touchdown. Running back A.J. Dillon had a catch of 20 yards.
